It was great to see so many of you join us in Park City at our first National Conference as Grounded Solutions Network. For those of you who could not make it, you were missed. I hope you’ll all start planning for Intersections 2017 in Oakland, CA. The conference last week gave us, Board and staff, an opportunity to take a breath and celebrate our many successes. As I noted in my opening remarks, our first nine months have been full of member engagements, policy advances, new team members and impactful partnerships. Our 15-member board took office in January and since then has been hard at work thinking about how to position this organization for success and set strategic priorities for the coming years. As we head into the last quarter of the year, we will be holding elections and conducting the annual member meeting. Consistent with the Bylaws and existing Board member terms, Grounded Solutions’ members will have the opportunity to vote on two positions representing the Communities of Practice.
Members of the Board feel that the organization is moving in the right direction, and that given how new we are as a Board and an organization, we put great Importance on continuity and stability. The two existing Community of Practice representatives whose initial one-year terms are expiring would like to continue to serve the organization for an additional three year term. I tell you this in the interest of transparency and ask that you keep this in mind as we open the process. The nominations process is open as of today, and any Member who would like to nominate him or herself as a candidate for the Board of Directors may do so by submitting a summary of qualifications here. To date we have nominations from the two incumbents. We look forward to publishing the final slate once the nominations process has closed.
Please make a note of the following schedule:
- Nominations open Oct. 3 to 15
- Candidate slate announced October 26
- Elections by electronic balloting November 9-23
- Annual member meeting by webinar December 6
As we head into the last quarter of the year, I hope that you will take part in the elections and join us for the Annual Member meeting on December 6.
