Together, we embodied the theme of “where we live matters.” From multiple viewpoints, we came together to explore how to work collectively in order to make inclusive communities the new norm. With sound policy and effective action, we can shape our communities to be equitable and filled with opportunity for all. As neighborhoods grow and change, we can make sure that happens in a way that is good for the people who live there. Strong communities have diverse housing options for a variety of incomes, offering choice and opportunity for all residents.
Highlights included our keynote address from Dr. Tiffany Manuel, who helped us refresh our thinking about how to make the case for policies, programs and investments that address issues of poverty, inequality and inequity – using the best knowledge and information on messaging and data. We also enjoyed learning more about our local hosts, the Bay Area Consortium of Community Land Trusts, and the work the region is doing to combat rising housing costs and displacement.
We are working to collect session materials from presenters – if there is a topic you missed or want to revisit, visit the class posting HERE for links to materials.
We’re already looking forward to getting together again in 2018. Mark your calendars for Intersections 2018 happening the week of October 1 – 5, 2018, in Pittsburgh, PA!
