Topic: Converting Rental Properties to Shared Equity Homeownership
Description: Many community land trusts and other shared equity organizations steward rental housing – both as existing portfolio properties as well as through acquisition-rehab to protect vulnerable renters from displacement – and may have plans to transition ownership to the residents. Successfully making the conversion from market-rate rental to affordable homeownership is challenging to pull off and can take years of navigating financial, legal, and governance issues. Our October Network Call will bring together practitioners to share experiences, lessons learned, and outstanding questions regarding this growing strategy.
This is an informal, conversation-based meeting intended to create space for members to connect with one another, so come prepared to share and listen.
