RVP 2019: Community Land Trust Summit
As part of our unique participation in the 2019 Reclaiming Vacant Properties Atlanta convening, Grounded Solutions Network is extending this special invitation to encourage your participation in a collaborative Community Land Trust Summit of program practitioners, researchers, policymakers, public funders, private lenders, and community organizers to explore the strategic issues, opportunities, and obstacles that will influence the growth of CLTs in the years ahead.
While this meeting is open to all RVP participants, space is limited to 100 attendees and filling fast, so reserve your spot for what promises to be a significant occasion; please register for the CLT Summit today while there is still time!
The Summit agenda is divided into three sessions:
SESSION ONE will address the question Who Is Buying My Neighborhood? The wealthiest on the planet are now buying up land, buildings, and luxury housing. Featured panelists and participants will together examine this global land grab and its impact on urban and rural communities, including areas where natural disasters have created opportunities for “disaster capitalists” to acquire newly cleared lands. We will also explore ways that communities are pushing back by demanding greater transparency and by capturing some of this global wealth for CLTs and other forms of permanently affordable housing.
SESSION TWO will be conducted in four break-out groups. Group A will discuss local and national policies impacting CLT expansion. Group B will discuss how to grow the expertise and diversity of the next generation of CLT practitioners. Group C will discuss options for governance and coordination when a large geography is served by one or more CLTs.Group D will discuss the “ideal” impact that CLTs hope to have over the next 50 years.
SESSION THREE will be a plenary discussion that knits together the threads of the earlier panel and the four break-out groups.
